President Prabowo Subianto convened a series of meetings with cabinet members at Hambalang in Bogor, West Java on Sunday, 8 March 2026. According to Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, President Prabowo participated in five separate meetings at his private residence on that date.

“On Sunday afternoon through evening, President Prabowo Subianto held five different meetings at his Hambalang residence, summoning several ministers from the Red and White Cabinet,” Teddy stated in a written statement.

During these meetings, Prabowo requested that ministers report on strategic domestic and foreign policy issues. Each meeting, according to Wijaya, focused on a different topic.

The first meeting addressed cooperation on developing ten new university campuses across Indonesia. These higher education institutions will specialise in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

The second meeting examined the development of existing universities in Indonesia, specifically focusing on progress in advancing state universities’ global rankings and expanding collaborative partnerships with leading international universities.

The third meeting discussed the situation in the Middle East, a region currently experiencing upheaval following military strikes by the United States and Israel against Iran, resulting in the deaths of several Gulf state leaders.

The fourth meeting concerned Palestinian students studying at the Defence University. “Since becoming Defence Minister in 2022, President Prabowo has invited 20-40 Palestinian children to study in Indonesia, and this has now grown to nearly 200 students,” Wijaya explained.

The final meeting addressed security and smooth operations for the mudik (holiday exodus), particularly given the upcoming Eid al-Fitr celebrations expected in ten days’ time.

The Hambalang meetings were attended by various officials, including ministers, state-owned enterprise leaders from the defence sector such as PT Pindad (Persero), and leadership from the Defence University.

Among the ministers summoned to the President’s residence were Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto; Minister of Defence Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin; and Deputy Minister of Defence Donny Ermawan. Other meeting participants included the Rector of the Defence University and PT Pindad Chief Executive Officer Sigit Santosa.
