President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto has expressed appreciation for the performance growth of PT Pegadaian (Persero) in his address at the 2026 Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR RI) and the Joint Session of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) and the Regional Representatives Council (DPD RI), held at the Parliamentary Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Friday, 14 August 2026.

In his speech, Prabowo highlighted Pegadaian’s achievement of recording significant profit growth in the first half of 2026. As of 30 June 2026, Pegadaian posted a net profit of Rp6.59 trillion, growing 84.4 percent year-on-year compared with Rp3.58 trillion in the same period of 2025.

Beyond financial performance, Prabowo also underscored the strategic role of the Gold Bank in driving increased value addition for gold commodities within the country. Pegadaian, the first company in Indonesia to obtain a licence to conduct bullion business activities, continues to strengthen the national gold ecosystem from upstream to downstream. Currently, Pegadaian’s gold-based business performance has reached approximately 153 tonnes, a significant increase compared with the early stages of bullion service development.

President Director of PT Pegadaian (Persero) Damar Latri Setiawan said the President’s appreciation was both an honour and a motivation for all Pegadaian personnel to continue maintaining the company’s growth and enlarging its contribution to the national economy.

“We would like to express our gratitude and appreciation for the attention given by the President to Pegadaian’s performance. This achievement is certainly not the final goal, but rather a mandate for us to continue working better. The positive profit growth is the result of public trust, government support, the hard work of all Pegadaian personnel, business transformation, and the strengthening of the gold ecosystem that we continue to carry out,” said Damar.

According to him, the presence of the Gold Bank carries a broader strategic significance than merely developing the company’s business. The bullion ecosystem is expected to optimise Indonesia’s gold potential so that greater value addition can be created and circulate domestically.

“As the first Gold Bank in Indonesia, we want to ensure that the nation’s vast gold potential can deliver increasingly broad economic benefits. Gold-based business assets under management, which have now reached approximately 153 tonnes, demonstrate the scale of trust as well as the potential that can still be developed. Pegadaian will continue to strengthen an integrated gold ecosystem, so that Indonesian gold can provide value addition for the public and the national economy,” Damar added.

Previously, Prabowo had officially launched the Gold Bank service on 26 February 2025 at Pegadaian Tower, Pegadaian’s head office in Central Jakarta. The presence of the Gold Bank service is part of the government’s strategic policy to strengthen national economic resilience and self-reliance and to optimise Indonesia’s gold potential.

In line with the President’s directive, PT Pegadaian (Persero) continues to strengthen gold-based business services, bullion business development, and digital transformation to broaden public access to gold ecosystem services. Pegadaian is committed to maintaining the company’s growth momentum while enlarging its tangible contribution to national economic development, in order to realise the aspiration of ‘MengEMASkan Indonesia’ (Gilding Indonesia).
