President Prabowo Escorted by F-16 Fighter Jets Before Landing in Jordan

President Prabowo Subianto arrived in Jordan on Tuesday (24/2) at 8:00 PM local time, receiving a special state welcome. Before landing, the presidential aircraft was escorted by F-16 fighter jets from the Royal Jordanian Air Force as a symbol of high inter-state respect.

Upon landing at Marka Military Airport, Amman, Prabowo was greeted by Crown Prince of Jordan Al Hussein bin Abdullah II and the honor guard. Also present were the Indonesian Ambassador to Jordan, Ade Padmo Sarwono, and the Indonesian Defense Attaché to Jordan, Colonel Dafris D. Syahruddin.

The welcoming ceremony was warm and solemn, reflecting the commitment of both countries to further strengthen strategic cooperation in various fields, such as education, defense, agriculture, and issues in the Middle East.

During the official state visit, President Prabowo was accompanied by Foreign Minister Sugiono, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

From the airport, President Prabowo went directly to the hotel where he will stay in Amman. The following day, he is scheduled to meet with the King of Jordan, King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein.

President Prabowo is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with King Abdullah II ibn Al-Hussein at the Al Husseiniya Palace, Amman, Jordan, on Wednesday afternoon local time.

The bilateral meeting is the main agenda in the series of President Prabowo’s visit to Amman on February 24-25, 2026. This is also the second meeting after his first state visit to Amman in mid-April 2025.

In the meeting, President Prabowo and the King of Jordan are expected to follow up on several discussions regarding bilateral cooperation in strategic fields, and discuss global geopolitical dynamics, especially the recovery phase in Gaza, Palestine. Indonesia and Jordan are currently members of the Gaza Board of Peace.

Indonesia and Jordan, along with several other Muslim-majority countries, such as the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Egypt, are members of the Board of Peace. The forum aims to encourage the realization of a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, create peace, and support the independence of the Palestinian people. (Ant/P-4)
