President Prabowo Endows 70,000 Qur'ans to Sumatra Disaster Victims
President Prabowo Subianto has endowed 70,000 Qur’ans to communities affected by disasters in Aceh Province, West Sumatra, and North Sumatra.
The distribution of the Qur’an endowment is being carried out by the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Muhammad Tito Karnavian, who serves as Chair of the Task Force for Accelerated Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (PRR) following the Sumatra disaster. The symbolic handover was conducted during direct meetings with affected residents.
One significant occasion was when Tito closed the Aceh Nuzulul Qur’an Khanduri Ramadan Festival 2026 at the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque complex in Banda Aceh on Friday, 6 March. During this event, Tito distributed 5,620 Qur’an copies along with other religious items including prayer shawls (mukena), sarongs, and prayer mats.
“There are 70,000 Qur’ans endowed by the President, but today we are distributing 5,000 here. Additionally, there are prayer mats, sarongs, and prayer shawls. God willing, these will be beneficial,” Tito stated in a written statement.
Beyond Banda Aceh, the religious aid packages have also been distributed to disaster-affected communities in East Aceh, North Aceh, East Aceh, Lhokseumawe, Bireuen, Pidie Jaya, and several other districts throughout Aceh Province.
In addition to religious equipment, Tito also provided other essential items including thousands of garments, blankets, and clothing supplies for affected residents. These provisions include donations from other sources channelled through the government.
