Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has sacrificed 1,098 cattle for Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah, with the distribution spanning 552 regions across Indonesia, including educational institutions, Islamic boarding schools, social organisations, community leaders, and religious figures.

Deputy Minister of the State Secretariat Juri Ardiantoro stated during a press briefing at the Presidential Complex in Jakarta on Tuesday that 598 cattle were allocated to 38 provinces and 514 regencies/cities, while 500 were distributed to institutions and community leaders.

“President Prabowo has provided 1,098 sacrificial cattle to be distributed to all provinces, regencies, and cities. A total of 552 regions, comprising 38 provinces and 514 regencies/cities, will receive 598 cattle for provincial and regency/city governments,” he said.

Thus, 46 regions received two cattle each to compensate for the unavailability of standard-weight animals in those areas.

“The presidential cattle standard is 800 kilograms to 1.3 tonnes, with each region receiving one. However, 46 regions lacked cattle meeting this weight standard, hence two smaller cattle were provided instead,” Ardiantoro explained.

Additionally, 500 sacrificial cattle were allocated to educational institutions, Islamic boarding schools, religious social organisations, community leaders, and religious figures.

Ardiantoro noted the distributed cattle were premium breeds, including Simmental, Limousin, Peranakan Ongole, Brahman, Angus, Bali cattle, FH, Belgian Blue, and Charolais.

“The cattle are of premium quality and highly regarded,” he added.

He further explained that the provision of 1,098 cattle was coordinated by the State Secretariat’s Presidential Secretariat, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, local livestock and animal health agencies, and the Indonesian Cattle Breeders and Feeders Association (APPSI).

All sacrificial cattle originated from local farmers. The government hopes this initiative will boost domestic cattle productivity and quality, supporting the development of the national livestock industry.

“President Prabowo has directed that the sacrificial cattle be utilised to the fullest extent for communities in need across each region, whether through local governments, designated institutions, or trusted individuals responsible for distribution,” he concluded.
