President Prabowo Directs Reorganisation of State Land for the People

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas Maruarar Sirait stated that President Prabowo Subianto has directed that state land currently controlled by other parties be re-utilised for the interests of the state and the Indonesian people.

She explained that the government has discovered numerous state assets, particularly land owned by the state-owned enterprise (SOE) Perkeretaapian, which have been occupied by communities or other parties without optimal utilisation according to their intended purpose.

“Certainly, the President’s directive on state land is to use it for the interests of the state, including in various regions, several points of which we will convey later,” said Ara, her familiar nickname.

Ara, along with the Head of the SOE Supervisory Board Dony Oskaria and the President Director of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Bobby Rasyidin, conducted direct inspections in the Bandung area and Tanah Abang, Jakarta, where state lands are controlled by other parties.

Ara explained that the parties controlling state land vary, including communities that have long occupied those areas.

According to her, the government will prioritise a communication approach with the community in the land reorganisation process.

“We will communicate, because it is state land. Of course, it will be used for the interests of the state and the Indonesian people,” she said.

She added that President Prabowo has given directions to prepare major steps in reorganising state assets in various regions. The government is mapping several strategic locations together with relevant ministries and agencies.

The financing for the state land utilisation programme will involve Danantara Indonesia. The government is also preparing various facilitation schemes for the community, particularly low-income communities (MBR).

“At the appropriate time, there will be major steps announced by Mr President to make significant changes, on how these state lands, as I mentioned earlier, are being prepared by Mr Nusron, at several land points that will be announced in due course,” Ara clarified.
