Downstreaming is considered a game changer in supporting the achievement of Golden Indonesia in the coming years. Moreover, downstreaming under the administration of President Prabowo Subianto is a highly ambitious programme. It is no surprise that President Prabowo consistently receives detailed reports on the progress of each project stage, including any obstacles, to enable immediate mitigation. Consequently, the Danantara Indonesia Investment Management Agency is moving swiftly to complete 26 national strategic downstreaming projects with a total investment value reaching Rp225 trillion. Danantara Chief Operating Officer Dony Oskaria stated that this massive project is projected to absorb as many as 37,833 workers. “This makes it one of the main engines for job creation and strengthening the national economy,” he explained. The project implementation is being carried out in two phases. The first phase, which began with a groundbreaking on 6 February 2026, includes six priority projects across 13 locations with an investment value of Rp109 trillion and the potential to absorb 11,456 workers. Meanwhile, the second phase, which commenced with a groundbreaking on 29 April 2026, covers 10 priority projects in 13 locations with an investment value of Rp116 trillion and is estimated to absorb 26,377 workers. According to him, downstreaming must provide tangible benefits for the national economy, not only in terms of investment but also its impact on society. “Not only does it generate investment, this downstreaming also creates jobs, drives regional economies, and ensures the added value is enjoyed domestically,” Dony said in an official statement. These projects cover various strategic commodities, ranging from the mining sector, such as the construction of aluminium, stainless steel, and copper smelters, to the energy and food sectors through the development of bioavtur, bioethanol, palm oil processing, coconut industry, and integrated chicken farming facilities. The investments being undertaken are expected to create domestic added value, open new job opportunities, and provide sustainable benefits for the Indonesian people and economy. In addition, Minister of Investment and Downstreaming and Danantara CEO Rosan Roeslani also explained that besides pushing for the execution of all 26 registered projects, his party is also targeting several potential new downstreaming projects deemed feasible for further development. “And later we are reviewing several more downstreaming projects that are indeed feasible and we need going forward,” said Rosan. He confirmed that the domestic downstreaming focus will not be limited to just one commodity sector. Various other sectors are now being mapped out to gain added value. “Yes, we are reviewing them first, there are several, we will inform you later. Not only the mineral sector, but other sectors as well,” he concluded.
