President Prabowo Departs for the Philippines to Attend the 48th ASEAN Summit
President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, departed for Cebu, Philippines, on Thursday, 7 May 2026, to attend the 48th ASEAN Summit taking place on 7-8 May 2026. The Head of State, along with a limited entourage, took off from Halim Perdanakusuma TNI AU Base in Jakarta at approximately 09.10 WIB.
President Prabowo’s departure was seen off directly by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming, Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) Muhammad Herindra.
Upon arrival in Cebu, President Prabowo is scheduled to attend one of the 48th ASEAN Summit agendas, namely the Brunei Darussalam–Indonesia–Malaysia–Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) Summit, which serves as a strategic forum to strengthen connectivity and economic cooperation in the ASEAN sub-region.
During the visit, President Prabowo is scheduled to discuss strengthening cooperation among ASEAN countries, including efforts to address current global dynamics. Several issues to be discussed include global developments impacting the region, such as efforts to maintain energy resilience and strengthen coordination in responding to geopolitical dynamics.
The meeting of ASEAN leaders is also expected to strengthen regional solidarity in maintaining stability, economic growth, and strategic cooperation across various sectors.
Accompanying President Prabowo on the flight to the Philippines are Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
