President Prabowo Departs for Japan, Warmly Welcomed by Diaspora in Tokyo - Sorot News
JAKARTA – President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, departed for Tokyo, Japan, for a working visit on Sunday (29/3/2026). The President’s departure was seen off directly at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport around 10:30 WIB by several high-ranking state officials.
Those present included Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, Minister of Defence Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, as well as the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces and the National Police Chief, who also paid respects during the send-off ceremony.
During this visit, President Prabowo is accompanied by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, Foreign Minister Sugiono, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
While in Tokyo, the President is scheduled to carry out several important agendas, including meetings with Naruhito and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi. These meetings are expected to strengthen Indonesia-Japan bilateral relations, particularly in the fields of economy and investment.
In addition to state agendas, the President is also scheduled to meet with several major Japanese businesspeople and witness the signing of several investment agreements by Japanese companies in Indonesia.
Upon arrival in Tokyo, President Prabowo’s presence was warmly welcomed by the Indonesian diaspora. Indonesian citizens living in Japan appeared enthusiastic in welcoming the head of state, having prepared themselves well in advance to witness the moment directly.
An atmosphere of emotion and national pride was evident in the President’s interactions with the diaspora. They exchanged greetings, prayers, and expressions of support, reflecting the strong bond between the government and Indonesian citizens abroad.
This moment also serves as a symbol of national unity on the international stage, as well as strengthening the sense of nationalism among Indonesian communities overseas.
