President Prabowo Subianto stated that corruption and leakages are the main factors hindering national development. He conveyed this during the closing ceremony of the National Deliberation (Munas) of Alim Ulama and the Grand Conference (Konbes) of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) 2026 at the Syaichona Mohammad Cholil Islamic Institute (IAI) in Bangkalan Regency, East Java, on Tuesday.

During the occasion, Prabowo presented various data to the ulama regarding government developments and policies, including the recent completion of infrastructure projects such as the construction of 1,151 kilometres of village roads at a cost of Rp5.4 trillion.

The President emphasised that the government is continuously striving to halt various forms of leakage that prevent state revenue from being optimised. He noted that this effort is one of the main focuses of his administration. “So much of our money evaporates and disappears, and this government that I lead, I am determined to do the best to stop these leakages,” he said.

Prabowo also explained the government’s measures to bring order to natural resource management, including reclaiming control over oil palm plantations that violated regulations and cracking down on illegal mining. “My government has seized back, regained control of more than 5 million hectares of illegal oil palm plantations that did not comply with regulations. Those who built plantations in protected forests, who falsified reports, we have shut down hundreds of unlicensed mines,” he stated.

The President assessed that oversight of natural resources must be strengthened because the country possesses immense wealth. Furthermore, Prabowo stressed that the key to safeguarding the nation’s wealth is establishing a clean government free from corrupt practices. According to him, the success of development is highly dependent on the state’s ability to manage its resources responsibly. “Therefore, the key is that the government must be clean. The government must truly be free from corruption. There must be no corruption in the government of the Republic of Indonesia,” said Prabowo.
