President Prabowo Convenes Ministers to Discuss Formation of a Special Export State-Owned Enterprise

President Prabowo Subianto has summoned a number of economy ministers to the Presidential Palace for a luncheon to discuss the formation of PT Danantara Sumber Daya Indonesia (DSI) as a Special Export State-Owned Enterprise (BUMN). The luncheon meeting aimed to finalise the operating mechanics of the new body, which will focus on strengthening national export performance. Rosan Roeslani, Minister of Investment and Hilirisasi and CEO of Danantara Indonesia, confirmed that his attendance was to provide a technical briefing related to the body. ‘We are going to report the mechanism (the Export Body),’ Rosan said, quoted by Antara on Thursday (21 May 2026). In addition to discussing Danantara, the meeting served as a cross-sector coordination platform. Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa revealed that he is preparing a special report on trade surveillance, including issues of value manipulation in export-import documents. ‘Always be prepared; if asked, you must not be unable. There is a study that I mentioned yesterday,’ Purbaya said regarding his readiness to provide data to the President. Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita also stated his willingness to report on developments in the industrial sector if asked by the President during the meeting. ‘Of course, as a minister you must be ready. If needed, it must be reported,’ Agus asserted. According to observers, other senior officials also attended, including Trade Minister Budi Santoso and Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo. The establishment of the Special Export SOE is expected to become a new driver of momentum to strengthen Indonesia’s trade position in global markets and boost state revenue.
