President Prabowo convenes ministers and SOE directors to discuss village cooperatives

Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto summoned a number of members of the Red and White Cabinet to discuss the Red and White Village/Neighbourhood Cooperatives (KDKMP) at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions Yandri Susanto said his side would report on progress regarding the socialisation of the KDKMP programme in the regions.

“Our role is largely socialisation among village heads and village officials, so we are partnering with ten village associations to ensure they understand the Red and White village cooperative policy,” said Yandri.

He said this socialisation would provide more information about the benefits of cooperatives for villages, as well as how their funds are used.

According to him, the village associations fully support efforts to socialise this priority government programme.

Meanwhile, Minister of Cooperatives Ferry Juliantono said the limited meeting would discuss subsidised goods to be distributed through Kopdes.

In addition, it would likely also discuss financing and the interest rate for loans channelled through Kopdes.

“Then also perhaps financing with the interest rate that the President announced yesterday at the Indonesia Arena (on National Cooperatives Day), possibly that,” said Ferry.

Also attending the limited meeting were, among others, Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan, Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Maman Abdurrahman, Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Rini Widyantini, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, President Director of Perum BULOG Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani, President Director of PT PLN (Persero) Darmawan Prasodjo, and President Director of PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara Joao Angelo De Sousa Mota.
