President Prabowo buys a 1.25-ton Simmental sacrificial cow owned by Bandung City resident

President Prabowo Subianto officially selected a single cow owned by a Bandung City resident to serve as the sacrificial animal for Eid al-Adha 1447 H. The cow was chosen after a rigorous selection process involving a team of experts from the provincial level up to the Presidential Secretariat.

The animal belongs to local farmer Vandry Dwitama. The achievement marks the superior quality of Bandung’s livestock farming, capable of meeting the presidency’s high standards.

‘Akhirnya, selama proses seleksi sapi, mula dari pemeriksaan bobot badan sampai ke pengecekan lab, terpilih sapi milik peternak warga Kota Bandung,’ said Wilsandi, head of the Livestock and Veterinary Health Division of Bandung City’s Food Security and Livestock Agency (DKPP), in Bandung on Tuesday (19 May 2026).

Spesifikasi Sapi Simmental 1,25 Ton

The cow selected by President Prabowo is of the Simmental breed, a premium foreign breed that has been locally domesticated by Bandung farmers. This cow weighs a staggering 1,250 kilograms or 1.25 tonnes.

Wilsandi explained that the selection process looked not only at physical size but also at health aspects in depth. ‘All aspects, from body performance, ante-mortem health checks, body weight, to the results of blood laboratory tests, must be good in order to be nominated,’ he said.

For this year, the president’s sacrificial cow is proposed to be slaughtered at Masjid Al-Ukhuwah, Bandung City.

The selection of Vandry Dwitama’s cow is a source of pride for the Bandung City Government. Wilsandi noted that the achievement demonstrates the consistency of the region’s livestock quality, given that Bandung City has been trusted to provide the president’s sacrificial cows for four consecutive years.

‘This proves that Bandung’s livestock farmers are capable of producing high-quality sacrificial animals that can compete at the national level,’ asserted Wilsandi.

With laboratory test results deemed fit and healthy, the giant Simmental cow is ready to be part of President Prabowo Subianto’s Eid al-Adha worship in 1447 H.
