JAKARTA – President Prabowo Subianto has issued messages and directives to his cabinet regarding preparations for the mudik (homecoming) exodus and Eid al-Fitr celebrations in 1447 AH/2026 CE.

Prabowo has requested that safety during the 2026 Eid mudik season be prioritised. “We are confident that this year’s mudik will proceed smoothly, safely, comfortably and filled with joy,” Prabowo stated during a Cabinet Session at the State Palace on Friday (13 March 2026).

Before the ministers of the Red and White Cabinet, Prabowo emphasised the need to prevent queuing at rest areas, airports, railway stations, and ports. Additionally, he specifically instructed Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi to ensure that public transport fare discount policies are implemented optimally.

Prabowo has also instructed Military Commander General Agus Subiyanto and National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo to deploy the military and police to facilitate this year’s mudik. The National Police and the Naval and Land Forces possess vessels that could be made available to support the mudik operation.

The President has also directed ministers responsible for food and resources regarding the availability of fuel, electricity supply, and internet connectivity. He has requested that all public needs during the Eid al-Fitr holiday break be continuously provided for.

“This is our government’s second Eid celebration. Coordinating Minister for Food, Trade Minister, Agriculture Minister – ensure that food supplies remain stable and secure, and that prices remain controlled,” he stressed.

At the same meeting, Prabowo also requested that Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf ensure that social assistance is distributed effectively. In particular, additional food assistance for 35 million beneficiary families in income deciles 1, 2, 3, and 4 must be distributed precisely to the intended recipients.
