President Prabowo Arrives in the US, Set to Meet Donald Trump
Jakarta, VIVA – President Prabowo Subianto arrived in the United States on Tuesday, 17 February 2026 at 11.55 local time.
The Garuda Indonesia-1 aircraft carrying the President and his entourage landed at Andrews Military Base, Washington DC.
At the foot of the aircraft steps, President Prabowo was welcomed by Indonesia’s Ambassador to the United States Dwisuryo Indroyono Soesilo, Indonesian Defence Attaché in Washington Air Vice-Marshal E. Wisoko Aribowo, and Maintenance Group Commander Colonel Gary Charland. Following the reception, President Prabowo proceeded directly to his hotel for the duration of his stay in Washington DC.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya explained in a written statement that during this visit to the US, President Prabowo is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump.
The meeting is expected to focus on strengthening relations between Indonesia and the United States, as well as strategic cooperation across various economic sectors, including several trade negotiations and agreements.
“This visit forms part of President Prabowo’s active direct diplomacy efforts to enhance economic supply chains and domestic industrial productivity,” said Cabinet Secretary Teddy on Wednesday, 18 February 2026.
Among those accompanying President Prabowo on the flight to the US were Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
