Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto arrived in Nganjuk Regency, East Java, on Saturday to inaugurate the Marsinah Museum and Shelter, which was built to document the life story and struggles of the labour activist.

The President arrived at the location at approximately 08.58 WIB, using the presidential Maung Garuda vehicle, and was greeted by local residents gathered around the event venue.

He was welcomed by the President of the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPSI), Andi Gani Nena Wea.

The President was accompanied by the Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg), Prasetyo Hadi, and the National Police Chief, General Polisi Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

Prabowo had previously stated that he would attend the inauguration of the Marsinah Museum and Shelter in Nglundo Village, Nganjuk, during the peak of the International Labour Day commemoration at Monas, Jakarta, on 1 May 2026.

On that occasion, Prabowo highlighted that the government had designated Marsinah as a national hero. The inauguration of the Marsinah Museum in Nganjuk is part of the honouring of the labour movement in Indonesia.

Previously, the Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, stated that the construction of the Marsinah National Hero Museum in Nganjuk also aims to provide education to young generations about the exemplary values, spirit, and courage of Marsinah in fighting for justice and humanity.

“We are not just building a building, but also a space for values. This is where young generations can learn about the courage, integrity, and commitment to justice that Marsinah exemplified,” she said in a statement received in Nganjuk, Sunday (28/12/2025).
