President Prabowo Subianto received a visit from Ray Dalio, advisor to Danantara and a global financial figure, at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Friday afternoon (27/3). This strategic meeting focused on Indonesia’s economic prospects and strengthening the role of the Danantara Investment Management Agency (BPI) as a national growth engine.

The meeting discussed Indonesia’s economic prospects, as well as the optimisation and strengthening of Danantara’s role as the engine of Indonesia’s economic growth, as stated in a post on the Cabinet Secretariat’s Instagram account @sekretariat.kabinet on Friday (27/3).

The meeting also addressed efforts to optimise Danantara as Indonesia’s strategic national investment management body, including strengthening its role in driving economic growth.

Danantara itself is Indonesia’s strategic investment management agency, established by President Prabowo in February 2025. The institution aims to optimise state assets, manage strategic state-owned enterprises (SOEs), and serve as a sovereign wealth fund.

In addition, Danantara continues to forge cooperation with strategic partners to enhance trust and strengthen its international position.

The meeting was attended by Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, Investment Minister and Head of BPI Danantara Rosan Roeslani, Minister of Higher Education Brian Yuliarto, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

Following the meeting, Purbaya stated that the discussion between Prabowo and Ray Dalio also highlighted efforts to encourage foreign investors to enter Indonesia.

“He is helping us to invite foreign investors with some proposals he has. We will see, we will accelerate to ensure it runs,” said Purbaya.

He explained that Ray Dalio will help promote Indonesia abroad while bringing several proposals to attract investor interest. These proposals will be followed up immediately so that the proposed projects can be realised.

Purbaya also emphasised the importance of accelerating projects, especially those that have been running slowly. According to him, existing obstacles will be addressed soon so that project completion can be expedited in a short time.

The meeting also discussed several projects deemed capable of accelerating national economic movement, including in the energy sector and special economic zones (SEZs).

In the energy sector, the discussed projects are indicated to relate to the development of solar power plants (PLTS).

He also revealed projects involving investors from Singapore and domestically that are being pushed to be accelerated. However, details of these projects have not yet been provided.

Meanwhile, in the economic zone discussion, Purbaya mentioned plans to add one special economic zone to increase investment attractiveness.
