President Prabowo and Defence Minister Sjafrie Pay Final Respects to Late Ryamizard

President Prabowo Subianto attended the funeral ceremony and farewell for former Defence Minister (2014-2019) General (Retired) Ryamizard Ryacudu at the Bhinneka Tunggal Ika Building of the Ministry of Defence in Central Jakarta on Monday, 1 June 2027. The President arrived at the Ministry of Defence at approximately 8:25 AM WIB.

President Prabowo then proceeded to the Room of Silence accompanied by Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin to pay his final respects. In a solemn atmosphere, the head of state stood briefly before the coffin and prayed as a tribute to the deceased’s service to the nation.

The late General TNI (Retired) Ryamizard Ryacudu’s coffin arrived at the Ministry of Defence office at around 7:35 AM WIB and was laid in state in front of the Bhinneka Tunggal Ika Hall. The lying-in-state ceremony was presided over by Deputy Defence Minister Donny Ermawan Taufanto.

The late general passed away while receiving treatment at Gatot Soebroto Army Central Hospital (RSPAD) in Central Jakarta on Sunday, 31 May 2026. Throughout his career, he was recognised as a prominent national military figure who dedicated his service to the country, including serving as Army Chief of Staff from 2002 to 2005 and Defence Minister from 2014 to 2019.
