President Prabowo Affirms Commitment to Eradicating Corruption and Program Mismanagement
President Prabowo Subianto has affirmed the government’s commitment to continuing the fight against corruption and the misappropriation of government programmes. The statement was made during a plenary cabinet session at the State Palace in Jakarta on Monday (20/7).
The President revealed that indications of mismanagement had been found in several priority programmes, with the Free Nutritious Meal Programme (MBG) currently undergoing intensive reform. “It saddens us that there are economists and individuals who seek to enrich themselves from such a great and noble effort for the people,” Prabowo said. He stressed that all forms of corruption and misappropriation would be dealt with firmly, while ensuring that law enforcement proceeds with due caution.
In his briefing, Prabowo likened the national economy to a human body that must be kept healthy. He argued that damaging practices such as price mark-ups, fraud, and collusion must be rectified immediately to prevent disruption to national economic stability.
