Tehran (ANTARA) - Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has stressed that Tehran will never negotiate its defence and deterrence capabilities, arguing that Iran’s missile arsenal has prevented the country from suffering the same fate as Gaza. Speaking alongside Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at a press conference in Islamabad, Pezeshkian said Iran would never discuss its defence and deterrence capabilities with anyone under any circumstances. On Tuesday, Pezeshkian firmly rejected the possibility of any negotiations regarding Iran’s military capabilities. He stressed that the country’s defence strength is essential for safeguarding sovereignty from various external threats. The Iranian president stated that Tehran’s military power has served as a deterrent against aggression, rejecting calls for the country’s defence programme to be made a subject of negotiation. “The Islamic Republic of Iran will never, under any circumstances, hold talks with any party regarding its defence and deterrence capabilities,” Pezeshkian asserted. He also criticised Western countries that portray themselves as defenders of human rights, saying such claims are inconsistent with their actions.
