President: Pancasila as Foundation for Fair and Prosperous Economic Development
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto stated that Pancasila must serve as the primary foundation for national economic development oriented towards welfare, equity, and social justice for all Indonesian citizens.
According to the Presidential Secretariat’s statement received in Jakarta on Monday, the President, during the Pancasila Birth Anniversary Ceremony on Monday, explained that a Pancasila-based economy is religious, humanitarian, and strengthens national unity, which can be realised through the responsible management of natural resources for the people’s prosperity.
“We believe that natural wealth is not merely an economic commodity; it is a divine trust that must be managed responsibly for the greatest prosperity of the people, as well as for our children and grandchildren. For the future, for future generations,” President Prabowo said.
“Our children, the most vulnerable, poorest, and most powerless, must receive adequate nutrition. Our farmers must get timely fertiliser at the right price. Our fishermen must have fair market access and be supported and empowered,” Prabowo added.
“Our workers must have opportunities for a decent livelihood and income. The fate of our workers must be protected and assisted,” he further stated.
He added that a Pancasila-based economy also prioritises national and people’s interests, and Indonesia’s economic growth must not only benefit a select few.
“For too long, the prices of our natural wealth have been determined by others, in foreign countries. For too long, a portion of the profits from natural resources have flowed overseas instead of remaining in the Motherland,” he said.
He explained that the government is making significant investments in industrialisation through downstreaming, strengthening foreign exchange management from exports, and ensuring Indonesia’s wealth benefits the entire population to the greatest extent possible.
On Pancasila’s Birth Anniversary, President Prabowo stated that Indonesia’s economic development must return to the founding fathers’ vision of delivering fair and equitable prosperity for all citizens.
A Pancasila-based economy is the path to a stronger, more independent, and prosperous Indonesia.
