National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that President Prabowo has instructed the police to fully resolve the case of the acid attack against KontraS activist Andrie Yunus.

“Regarding developments in the attack on the activist, I have received a direct order from Mr President to conduct a thorough and professional investigation characterised by transparency,” General Sigit told journalists after inspecting mudik traffic flow at Gubeng Central Station in Surabaya, East Java, on Sunday (15 March 2026), according to detikNews.

General Sigit pledged to pursue the case. The investigation will employ scientific methods, and information gathering is currently ongoing by teams in the field.

“The steps we are taking will naturally prioritise Scientific Crime Investigation. Currently, we are gathering information, and this information will subsequently be examined one by one,” he stated.

General Sigit added that police units have mobilised under the coordination of the National Police Headquarters (Mabes Polri) and the Metro Jaya Regional Police. Developments in the case will be communicated periodically to the public.

It is known that KontraS Deputy Coordinator Andrie Yunus was doused with acid by an unknown person on Salemba Street, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (12 March) evening. The victim sustained burns covering 24 per cent of his body after being attacked by two unknown men on a motorcycle.

The case has triggered widespread condemnation from various parties, including former KPK chief Novel Baswedan and former Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, who visited the victim at the hospital.
