President officially closes 35th Nahdlatul Ulama Congress

President Prabowo Subianto officially closed the 35th Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Congress at Bahrul Ulum Islamic Boarding School in Tambakberas, Jombang, East Java, on Monday (31/8/2026).

The congress elected KH Miftachul Akhyar as Rais Aam and KH Abdul Hakim Mahfudz, known as Gus Kikin, as General Chairman of the NU Executive Board (PBNU) for the 2026-2031 term of service.

Gus Kikin delivered a speech during the closing ceremony, marking the beginning of the new leadership period for Indonesia’s largest Islamic organisation.
