President Lukashenko Welcomes Indonesia's Plan to Open Embassy and Direct Flights to Belarus
Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has welcomed Indonesia’s plan to open an Indonesian Embassy and establish direct flight routes to Belarus. He noted that citizens of both nations would visit each other more frequently, thereby strengthening cooperation in the tourism sector.
“I am grateful to the President for the plan to open the Indonesian embassy. Our citizens will certainly visit Indonesia more often, as will the opening of direct flights to Belarus. Belarusians are very interested in visiting Indonesia because it is a very attractive destination,” said Lukashenko during a joint press conference with President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Thursday (2/7/2026).
Lukashenko stated that his administration is paying close attention to tourist arrivals and welcomes cooperation regarding visa waivers for Belarusian citizens travelling to Indonesia.
“Our delegation places very high importance on mutual tourist visits. We are open to the opening of the Indonesian embassy in Belarus, and the implementation of visa-free travel will also facilitate visits by Belarusian citizens to Indonesia, similar to what we have already implemented for Indonesian citizens visiting Belarus,” he said.
According to Lukashenko, this agreement represents a significant step resulting from the solid cooperation between the two nations. He committed to exploring further opportunities for cooperation in other sectors.
“This is a major step because our delegation has worked very solidly on many matters together. We have nothing closed off and will always remain open to discussing various available cooperation opportunities,” he added.
“This is made possible thanks to your strong energy and support for the Belarusian government in its cooperation with Indonesia. We are very grateful that we mutually respect our friendship. Thank you very much for your attention,” Lukashenko continued.
Meanwhile, President Prabowo expressed his appreciation for Lukashenko’s state visit to Indonesia, stating that he intends to reciprocate the visit to Belarus.
“Your Excellency President Lukashenko, and the respected delegation, once again I wish to convey my appreciation and respect for Your Excellency’s second state visit to Indonesia. I will certainly reciprocate this visit,” said Prabowo.
Prabowo believes this meeting will strengthen Indonesia’s cooperation with Belarus. He expressed optimism that the established cooperation agreements will yield tangible results.
“I am also confident that this momentum will further strengthen the Indonesia-Belarus partnership and open wider opportunities for cooperation with real results that benefit the welfare and prosperity of both our peoples,” he concluded.
