Lee made these remarks in his opening address during the state luncheon held in honour of Prabowo and his delegation at the Presidential Palace of the Republic of Korea, Cheong Wa Dae (Blue House), on Wednesday (1 April 2026).
“It is a great pleasure to meet you. I met President Prabowo last autumn, and now in the spring of Korea, when all of nature is coming back to life, and right after Indonesia’s Eid al-Fitr, which marks a new beginning, it is a great honour to welcome President Prabowo as our state guest,” said Lee.
Lee emphasised the enhancement of bilateral relations between the two countries to a special comprehensive strategic partnership. According to him, this step is an important milestone that will strengthen cooperation in various sectors.
Lee also appreciated Prabowo’s support for South Korean companies investing in Indonesia. He assessed that future investment cooperation opportunities are growing larger, including through Danantara, which he described as having a global scale.
“I also look forward to strong strategic investment cooperation carried out through Danantara, which has developed into a global-scale sovereign fund,” he stated.
In addition, Lee mentioned the collaboration on joint fighter aircraft development as a strong symbol of cooperation between the two countries. He opened opportunities for further collaboration in the maritime sector to artificial intelligence technology.
Lee assessed that he and Prabowo share a similar vision in prioritising the welfare of the people.
“President Prabowo and I have many similar views, namely that the happiness and welfare of the people are the top priorities in running our governments,” he said.
At the end of his statement, Lee prayed for Prabowo to always be granted good health. He also expressed optimism that relations between Indonesia and South Korea will become even closer and mutually beneficial in the future.
“By building on this foundation, I am confident that the friendship, trust, and cooperation between our two countries will yield brilliant results. I pray for President Prabowo’s good health, and I hope for a future where Korea and Indonesia will shine and prosper together,” he said.
