President Lee: Indonesia is South Korea's sole highest-level partner
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Lee Jae Myung affirmed that Indonesia is the sole partner with the highest level of partnership held by South Korea during a bilateral meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at the Blue House Presidential Palace on Wednesday.
“In our last meeting, we committed to elevating our bilateral relations to the highest level. The Republic of Korea only has one such relationship with any country in the world,” said President Lee, quoted from the Press, Media, and Information Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat in Jakarta.
The statement underscores Indonesia’s strategic position as South Korea’s primary partner in various areas of cooperation, including investment and industrial development.
President Lee conveyed that the relationship between the two countries holds special significance and is mutually complementary, particularly in strengthening the economic and technological sectors.
“Indonesia is the first destination for Korean company investments and a valuable partner that has helped realise Korea’s defence industry,” stated President Lee.
He also highlighted the concrete cooperation that has been established, including the development of electric vehicles as a symbol of future collaboration between the two countries.
According to President Lee, the diplomatic relations that have been established for more than 50 years demonstrate that Indonesia and South Korea are mutually trusting friends and valuable partners.
“For more than 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, we have been mutually trusting friends and valuable partners,” he said.
He added that amid global uncertainties, both countries have important roles in maintaining stability and strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation.
“Amid global uncertainties and various challenges, Korea and Indonesia are a blessing to each other,” remarked President Lee.
The South Korean President also expressed appreciation for the state visit of President Prabowo and hopes that the relations between the two countries will continue to develop and provide tangible benefits to the people of both nations.
