President Lee affirms new era of Indonesia-South Korea partnership

Jakarta (ANTARA) - South Korean President Lee Jae Myung has affirmed the beginning of a new era in the strategic partnership between Indonesia and South Korea, now elevated to a comprehensive level specifically to strengthen cooperation in various sectors. “Now in the spring of Korea, when all of nature comes back to life, and right after Indonesia’s Eid al-Fitr, which marks a new beginning, it is a great honour to welcome President Prabowo as our state guest,” said President Lee at a state banquet with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at the Blue House Presidential Palace on Wednesday. This elevation of partnership status is seen as strengthening cooperation in various strategic sectors, from defence and economy to innovation and culture. “I also look forward to strong strategic investment cooperation carried out through Danantara, which has developed into a global-scale sovereign fund,” Lee stated. President Lee also highlighted the success of concrete cooperation, including the joint development of fighter aircraft, which opens up broader collaboration opportunities in various sectors such as maritime and artificial intelligence. In addition, Lee emphasised the shared vision with President Prabowo in placing the welfare of the people as the top priority of government. “President Prabowo and I share many similar views, namely that the happiness and welfare of the people are the top priorities in running our governments,” said President Lee. The South Korean President expressed optimism about the future of relations between the two countries that will be increasingly close and mutually beneficial. “By building on this foundation, I am confident that the friendship, trust, and cooperation between our two countries will yield brilliant results,” said President Lee.
