President Leads War, His Son Sells Weapons to Other Nations
The names of US President Donald Trump’s two sons, Donald Trump Jr and Eric Trump, have been linked to a company set to merge with the American defence startup, Powerus. The Trump brothers are recorded as indirect shareholders of Aureus Greenway Holdings through the investment fund American Ventures. Reuters cited regulatory documents indicating that the investment firm will hold a 9.9% beneficial interest.
Nevertheless, Powerus executives and spokespersons for the Trump brothers stated that both are merely passive investors in Aureus, with no operational role in the drone company. “However, there is no harm in including their names in an enterprise,” said Powerus advisory board member Keith Kellogg, as quoted by Reuters on Thursday.
The company executives aim to drive growth through acquisitions, international partnerships, and domestic manufacturing. Through these efforts, Powerus hopes to become a US partner that brings in military technology from abroad, particularly for Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Powerus is targeting Pakistan as a new market. Recently, the company signed a memorandum of understanding with the Pakistan Air Force, though no further details regarding the cooperation were disclosed.
Founded last October, the company reported first-quarter sales of US$1.2 million in March. During that period, the Guardian deterrent drone, developed in collaboration with Ukraine, was also introduced.
Powerus President Brett Velicovich stated that the company’s objective is to explore meetings with local manufacturers, including for the production of the company’s technology. “We are looking for ways to produce technology here,” he said.
