Jakarta (ANTARA) – President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto arrived at the Kawasan-based Shrimp Cultivation Ponds (BUBK Kebumen), Tegal Retno Village, Petanahan District, Kebumen Regency, Central Java, on Saturday to directly oversee the execution of the shrimp harvest.

Monitored via a live broadcast on YouTube by the Presidential Secretariat in Jakarta, President Prabowo arrived in the Maung Garuda official vehicle to inspect several facilities and obtain information from the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono about the products produced from the ponds.

The President, who was also accompanied by the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Zulkifli Hasan, the Minister of State Secretariat Prasetyo Hadi, and the Minister of the Cabinet Secretariat Teddy Indra Wijaya, visited the shrimp ponds and directly practiced the harvesting process using the netting method.

Kawasan Budidaya Udang Berbasis Kawasan (BUBK) Kebumen is a strategic project built during 2022-2023. The area covers a total land area of 100 hectares, of which 65 hectares have been developed and are fully operational.

The area’s infrastructure is designed in an integrated manner, including 139 production ponds, a seawater intake system, a main reservoir spanning 3 hectares, inlet and outlet channels, as well as 17 IPAL cluster units and a main IPAL spanning 2 hectares.

Entering its fourth year of operation with the eighth production cycle, BUBK Kebumen has demonstrated optimal productivity. To date, total production has reached 1,151,497 kg with an economic value of Rp83,349,216,000, contributing to the state in the form of Pendapatan Negara Bukan Pajak (PNBP).

On the employment front, BUBK Kebumen has become an engine of the local economy, absorbing 145 permanent workers and empowering around 500 daily casual workers. The complex has now become a benchmark for the modernization of shrimp farming in Indonesia.
