President: Iran Ready to Face Various Scenarios After Agreement with US
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said that a memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States represents an important step towards ending war, and that Tehran is ready to face all scenarios. “What has been agreed upon is an important step towards ending the war, and the start of negotiations and a final agreement have yet to materialise. The Islamic Republic of Iran has prepared itself for all options,” President Pezeshkian said on social media platform X. He stated that the Iranian government will continue to serve its people with or without a final agreement with the US. Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, Pezeshkian added, played a crucial role in preparing the memorandum with the US. “The command of the Honourable Supreme Leader had the greatest role in inserting clauses to protect Iran’s national interests, and we thank him,” he said. As noted by the Iranian side, the memorandum considers the cessation of military actions on all fronts, including in Lebanon. US President Donald Trump has also confirmed that the memorandum with Iran has been de facto signed. Following the memorandum, the parties will begin negotiations on a final agreement that will resolve Iran’s nuclear issue and US sanctions against Tehran.
