Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has instructed the Cabinet Secretariat to organise the “Affordable Market for the People” event, which includes a bazaar and entertainment for Jakarta residents in the area of the National Monument (Monas) on Saturday afternoon, as part of the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah holiday. “Still in the atmosphere of Eid al-Fitr, on the instructions of President Prabowo, this afternoon at the grounds of the National Monument (Monas), the Palace will once again welcome residents through a bazaar, affordable market, door prizes, and public entertainment for Jakarta residents,” states the caption in the official Instagram post of the Cabinet Secretariat. The event is aimed at residents who did not go home for the holidays as well as those who have returned to Jakarta after the Lebaran break. The main focus of the activity is to reach beneficiary families so they can experience a lively Eid atmosphere in the city centre. The President’s decision to hold this event stems from the high enthusiasm of the public during last week’s Eid celebrations at the Palace. President Prabowo wants as many people as possible to share the joy of Lebaran in a warm and communal atmosphere. According to information from the Cabinet Secretariat, the “Affordable Market for the People” will run from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. WIB. The organisers have prepared 100,000 free shopping vouchers worth Rp500,000 each, consisting of staple food packages worth Rp300,000 and goods worth Rp200,000. In addition to staple food packages, the public can also enjoy 300,000 portions of free food prepared by 800 small-scale street vendors. This people’s bazaar also involves traders from major shopping centres, such as Tanah Abang Market, Senen Market, and various other traditional markets in Jakarta. The event also provides various attractive prizes through a raffle or door prize system for lucky visitors. The prizes include 1,000 bicycles and 100 electric motorbikes as a form of appreciation for the attending public. To add to the merriment, the committee has provided a public entertainment stage featuring performances by the music groups Wali and D’Bagindaz. In addition, a variety of children’s games are available so that the atmosphere of togetherness can be felt by all family members visiting the Monas area.
