President hails ITU recognition for education platform
President Prabowo stated that the ITU ranked Indonesia first out of 122 countries in the e-government and education digitalization categories.
This, he added, serves as proof that Indonesia’s education digitalization push is increasingly recognized on the global stage.
“The International Telecommunication Union has given its highest award to Indonesia out of 122 countries in the e-government and education digitalization categories,” Prabowo said during a plenary cabinet meeting at the State Palace in Jakarta on Monday.
The recognition President Prabowo referred to was the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prizes, which took place on July 9, 2026.
Indonesia, represented by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, won first place in the e-government category with its “Rumah Pendidikan” (House of Education) program.
Rumah Pendidikan is an application that provides various educational services on a single platform.
Through the app, students can access learning materials, while teachers can collaborate and share ideas with fellow educators.
President Prabowo noted that the application, which currently has 6.9 million users, is highly beneficial, giving students access to 4,843 free learning materials and supporting teachers in underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost regions.
Despite the recognition, he underscored that Indonesia still has a long way to go in improving the quality and equity of its national education system.
Therefore, the government remains committed to accelerating its education digitalization efforts to ensure communities in remote areas have access to quality education.
During the meeting, the president stated that the government will distribute 700,000 interactive flat panels (IFPs) by the end of 2026 or the first half of 2027, thereby adding three more IFPs to each school.
The initiative is expected to provide Indonesian children and teachers with the opportunity to learn with the best educational resources.
