President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto has given the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) one month to improve the governance of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) Programme. This improvement measure is part of the government’s effort to ensure the implementation of this strategic national programme runs more effectively, accountably, and on target. The President’s directive serves as a momentum for the National Nutrition Agency, together with related ministries and institutions, to thoroughly refine various aspects of the MBG Programme’s implementation. “During this period, we will work intensively with related ministries and institutions so that the implementation becomes better and provides optimal benefits for the community,” said Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency, Agustina Arumsari, after attending a limited meeting at the Presidential Palace on Wednesday (15/7). During the improvement period, BGN will evaluate various aspects of the programme’s implementation, ranging from strengthening governance, refining operational mechanisms, and enhancing the supervision system, to reinforcing coordination with ministries, institutions, regional governments, and implementing partners. The overhaul is also directed at ensuring the MBG Programme is implemented more effectively, transparently, and on target, in line with the President’s direction that every policy must be carefully formulated and provide optimal benefits for the community. Arum emphasised that the improvement process does not diminish the government’s commitment to meeting the service needs of the MBG Programme. On the contrary, the evaluation being conducted is expected to serve as a foundation for strengthening the quality of the programme’s implementation in a sustainable manner. With the support of all ministries and institutions, BGN is optimistic that the improvements made over the next month will further strengthen the governance of the Free Nutritious Meal Programme, thereby supporting the realisation of a healthy, intelligent, and high-quality Indonesian generation towards the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision.
