President Distributes 1,098 Sacrificial Cattle to 552 Regions and Pesantrens

President Prabowo Subianto has distributed 1,098 sacrificial cattle for Eid al-Adha 1447 AH to 552 regions, educational institutions, Islamic boarding schools, social organisations, community leaders, and religious figures nationwide. Deputy State Secretary Juri Ardiantoro stated during a press briefing at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Tuesday, 26 May 2026, that 598 cattle were allocated to 38 provinces and 514 regencies and cities. An additional 500 cattle were distributed to various institutions and community leaders. “For Eid al-Adha 1447 AH, the President has generously provided 1,098 sacrificial cattle to be distributed across all provinces, regencies, and cities. A total of 552 regions—comprising 38 provinces and 514 regencies/cities—will receive 598 cattle for provincial and regency/city governments,” he said. He explained that the number of cattle allocated to regions exceeds the number of recipient areas because 46 regions lack cattle meeting the presidential weight standard of 800 kilograms to 1.3 tonnes. “Therefore, these 46 regions receive two cattle each as replacements for the standard-weight cattle unavailable locally. The presidential standard requires cattle weighing between 800kg and 1.3 tonnes, with each region typically receiving one. However, as 46 regions do not have cattle of this weight, they receive two instead,” he added. In addition to regional governments, 500 sacrificial cattle were also distributed to educational institutions, Islamic boarding schools, religious social organisations, community leaders, and religious figures. Juri noted that the sacrificial cattle are premium breeds, including Simmental, Limousin, Ongole crossbreed, Brahman, Angus, Bali cattle, FH, Belgian Blue, and Charolais. He added that all cattle possess animal health certificates, are over two years old, male, and free from defects, meeting Islamic sacrificial requirements. “These are premium-quality cattle with excellent standards,” Juri said. He added that the provision of 1,098 cattle was coordinated by the Ministry of State Secretariat through the Presidential Secretariat, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, local livestock and animal health agencies, and the Indonesian Cattle Breeders and Fattening Association (APPSI). All sacrificial cattle were sourced from local farmers. The government hopes this initiative will boost domestic cattle productivity and quality, supporting the development of the national livestock industry. “The President has instructed that the sacrificial cattle be utilised to the greatest extent for communities in need across regions, whether through local governments, designated institutions, or trusted community and religious leaders to distribute the President’s sacrificial animals,” he concluded.
