President Delivers 1.05-Tonne Jumbo Sacrificial Cow to Balikpapan

President Prabowo Subianto delivered a 1.05-tonne Charolais Simmental jumbo cow named Sibison for the Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah celebration in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan. The animal, housed at MWK Farm in Gunung Binjai, Teritip Subdistrict, Balikpapan East, stands approximately 160 centimetres tall and measures over two metres in length.

Anita, owner of MWK Farm, stated on Saturday (23 May) that the selection process for the presidential sacrificial donation was rigorous, conducted over a month and a half with the Ministry of Agriculture and relevant agencies.

“Assessments covered health, body weight, and physical condition. A key requirement is that the cow must have horns and be in overall good health,” she explained.

Sibison was chosen for having the largest frame among the farm’s cattle. The name “Bison” was given as it is considered the leader of the herd. Daily care includes two baths and three feedings of fresh green forage, supplemented with mixed feed to maintain its weight and health.

“We maintain a strict diet and hygiene routine. Due to its size, extra care is required compared to ordinary cows,” Anita said.

The cow’s weight was verified digitally with ministry officials to ensure compliance with presidential donation standards.

The President’s annual sacrificial cow programme distributes high-quality, large-weight cattle, certified healthy by veterinary teams, to regions across Indonesia as part of his social assistance initiative during Eid al-Adha.

“Sibison will be transported to Masjid Madinatul Iman or Balikpapan Islamic Center on 27 May 2026, coinciding with Eid al-Adha,” she added.

“The cow will be handed over to the sacrifice committee for slaughter and distribution of meat to the public,” she concluded.

Sibison has drawn local attention, with many residents visiting MWK Farm to see the presidential-selected jumbo cow. Its impressive size, coat colour, and horn structure are particularly notable attractions.
