President Prabowo Subianto held a telephone conversation with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to convey Eid al-Fitr greetings for 1447 Hijriah. This communication forms part of a series of outreach efforts by the Indonesian head of state with leaders of friendly nations.

The initiative also aims to bolster bilateral relations between Indonesia and Palestine. “President Prabowo Subianto continued his communications extending Eid al-Fitr greetings via telephone with leaders of Muslim-friendly nations,” stated Cabinet Secretary Lieutenant Colonel Infantry Teddy Indra Wijaya in Jakarta on Tuesday (24/3/2026).

According to Teddy, in this context, Prabowo’s communication with Mahmoud Abbas symbolises Indonesia’s consistent and enduring support for the Palestinian people. Indonesia, he added, has consistently regarded Palestine as a close friend with strong historical and emotional ties since its independence.

In various international forums, Teddy noted, Indonesia has stood at the forefront in promoting fair and dignified peace for Palestine. Through this warm communication, Indonesia reaffirms its commitment to supporting the Palestinian struggle and fostering peace and stability in the region.

In addition to contacting the Palestinian President, Prabowo also conducted similar communications with seven other leaders of friendly nations. They include Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. However, no explanation was given as to why Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian was not contacted by Prabowo.
