President Becomes Victim, Minister Immediately Steps In to Do This

The Kenyan Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy has stated it is investigating a hacking attempt that breached the official website of the Kenyan president. To date, no evidence of unauthorised access to sensitive data or loss of important information from the breach has been found. The ministry said the incident was detected by the government’s ICT Authority.

The government immediately activated protocols to respond to the cybersecurity incident. The government has also temporarily restricted access to the presidential website for a forensic investigation into the attack.

‘For now, there is no evidence of unauthorised access to sensitive data, data theft, or loss of information. Government systems and digital services remain secure and operational,’ said Cabinet Secretary for the ministry, William Kabogo Gitau, in a statement posted on X.

The ICT Authority is coordinating with relevant government agencies and technical partners to conduct the forensic investigation to establish the facts related to the incident.
