President Assures Massive Investments in Education Sector
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has assured that the government will make massive investments in the education sector, not only for school improvements but also for enhancing teaching and learning facilities, underscoring that education is the key to Indonesia’s national revival. “Education is the key to our nation’s revival. I will pay attention and invest massively in the field of education for the future of our entire nation. Every Indonesian child must be given the best education,” said President Prabowo when giving a statement to reporters after inspecting the facilities at SMA Negeri 1 Cilacap, Central Java, on Wednesday. Monitored online from Jakarta on Wednesday, the President stated that the government will continue to accelerate the improvement and revitalisation of schools across Indonesia. It is targeted that around 288,000 schools can be repaired by 2028. Previously, in 2025, repairs will be carried out on 17,000 schools, and by the end of this year, the government plans to revitalise 70,000 schools. He targets that improvements will also be made to 100,000 schools in 2027 and 2028. Not only that, the President also stated that the government plans to equip every classroom in schools with digital screens or smart class boards as part of efforts to improve education facilities. “Now there’s only one per school. Some have two. So our target is still maybe 3-4 more per school. This year we will strive for three additional ones across Indonesia,” said Prabowo. It is hoped that this will make the teaching and learning system more interactive and facilitate access to syllabi that can be accessed digitally. Thus, both teachers and students can easily repeat lessons as desired. “Later, we will have a central studio in Jakarta, with the best teachers, for example, for English, we take native speakers, they can teach everyone who needs it. Same for Mandarin, we want to add that our school children must be able to speak English, Mandarin, and some foreign languages. Starting from primary school,” said Prabowo Subianto.
