President assists Kodam with fire engines and excavators to tackle forest fires

The addition of these firefighting vehicles and heavy machinery is expected to increase the unit’s capability in supporting the government against the threat of forest and land fires (karhutla).

Palangka Raya (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has assisted the XXII/Tambun Bungai Military Command (Kodam) with 100 fire engines and 15 excavators to strengthen the prevention and handling of forest and land fires in Central Kalimantan and South Kalimantan.

“Kodam XXII/Tambun Bungai is ready to support the government, both in efforts to prevent and handle forest fires in Central Kalimantan,” stated the Commander of Kodam XXII/Tambun Bungai, Major General TNI Zainul Arifin, in Palangka Raya on Tuesday.

The fire engines received consist of Mitsubishi Canter vehicles with a 3,000-litre tank capacity and Hino Dutro vehicles with a 5,000-litre capacity. Of the total 100 fire engines, 25 units have been allocated to the Kodim and Battalions under the Korem 101/Antasari jurisdiction in South Kalimantan.

Furthermore, 72 units will be distributed to the Kodim under Korem 102/Panju Panjung and the BTP/YTP units located in Central Kalimantan. Meanwhile, three fire engines are allocated to the Kodam XXII/Tambun Bungai units in South Kalimantan, specifically Rindam XXII/TB, Denzipur 8/GM, and Gudmulap Banjarmasin.

Regarding the 15 Sany PC 75 excavators, five units will be distributed to units under Korem 101/Antasari, while the remaining 10 units will go to units under Korem 102/Panju Panjung, he added.

Zainul emphasised that the addition of firefighting vehicles and heavy machinery is expected to enhance the unit’s ability to support the government in facing the threat of forest and land fires.

Kodam XXII/Tambun Bungai reaffirmed its commitment to continuously increasing personnel readiness and supporting facilities to accelerate response times to forest fire incidents.

“With the support of this infrastructure and facilities, Kodam XXII/Tambun Bungai is committed to providing maximum support to the government in the prevention and handling of forest and land fires,” said Zainul.
