President asserts education is key to achieving public welfare
President Prabowo Subianto has asserted that education is the primary key to achieving public welfare across all aspects of life. According to a statement from the Presidential Secretariat released in Jakarta on Sunday, President Prabowo emphasised that human resource development must be carried out comprehensively through the enhancement of education and training quality for all layers of society.
“Education can make the people prosperous in all fields. Training for farmers, training for teachers, for nurses—we must improve education and training in all sectors,” said President Prabability during a visit to Sekolah Rakyat Menengah Pertama (SRMP) 17 Tabanan, Bali, on Sunday.
The Head of State explained that efforts to improve the quality of education and training represent a massive undertaking that requires adequate resource support. Consequently, the government is committed to managing the nation’s wealth responsibly to ensure it is utilised to the greatest extent for the benefit of the people.
Prabowo also expressed his satisfaction with the development of the ‘Sekolah Rakyat’ (People’s School) programme, which he believes offers new hope for communities requiring access to quality education. However, the President acknowledged that the demand for such programmes remains significantly high.
“I am pleased to see the progress of the Sekolah Rakyat. Certainly, the task remains immense because there are many who need these schools,” Prabowo stated.
To address this, Prabowo encouraged local governments, as well as relevant ministries and agencies, to collaborate in finding creative solutions to increase educational service capacity. This includes utilising underutilised state facilities while awaiting the construction of permanent school buildings.
The government aims to develop Sekolah Rakyat across Indonesia as part of its commitment to expanding educational access for those in need. Through this programme, the government hopes more Indonesian children will gain equal opportunities to receive a quality education and improve their families’ standard of living in the future.
Through the Sekolah Rakyat programme, the government intends to ensure that economic limitations no longer act as a barrier for Indonesian children seeking a better future. According to President Prabowo, education is not merely a classroom learning process, but the nation’s greatest investment in producing a superior generation capable of leading Indonesia towards progress, independence, and equitable prosperity for all citizens.
