President arrives in Miangas Island in North Sulawesi after attending ASEAN Summit
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has arrived in Miangas, Talaud Islands in North Sulawesi, to visit the communities on Indonesia’s northernmost island, which borders the Philippines.
In observations from an online broadcast followed from Jakarta on Saturday, the President arrived in Miangas around 09:45 WIB after attending the 48th ASEAN Summit in Cebu, Philippines.
In Miangas, President Prabowo is scheduled to meet with the local community and inspect the community health centre on one of the outermost islands of the Archipelago.
The President was also accompanied by Foreign Minister Sugiono and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
The President was seen conversing and taking photos with several airport staff before boarding the Pindad Maung vehicle.
Previously, the President attended the 48th ASEAN Summit in Cebu, Philippines, on 7-8 May 2026. The meeting discussed strengthening joint commitments among Southeast Asian countries in facing global challenges, particularly in the areas of food and energy resilience.
Foreign Minister Sugiono, in his press statement, conveyed that the main issues emerging in various summit sessions were ASEAN’s collective response to the impacts of the global geopolitical situation, especially the conflict in the Middle East, which also affects the lives of countries in the region.
