President and Rosan discuss development of downstreaming programme at 13 locations
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto met with the Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Rosan Roeslani to discuss the development of the downstreaming programme at 13 locations in various regions across the country.
In a statement received in Jakarta on Friday, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said that President Prabowo and Minister Rosan, who also serves as Head of the Nusantara Future Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara), met at the Head of State’s private residence in Hambalang, Bogor Regency, today to discuss the progress of the downstreaming programme.
“The next developments of the downstreaming programme will be built soon at 13 locations in Indonesia,” Teddy stated.
In addition, Teddy explained that the meeting also addressed several investors planning to invest in Indonesia.
“Several investors will invest in Indonesia, particularly in the fields of waste to energy, mineral resources, as well as agricultural industry, labour-intensive industries, and garments,” Teddy added.
The Cabinet Secretary explained that the Head of State, in his directives, emphasised that the downstreaming programme is not only focused on the energy and mineral sectors.
President Prabowo has instructed that the downstreaming programme must also be expanded to the agriculture and fisheries sectors.
“President Prabowo wants downstreaming not only in the energy and mineral fields but also to be expanded into agriculture and fisheries,” Teddy said.
This step demonstrates the government’s major policy direction of building a value-added economy, expanding employment opportunities, and strengthening national competitiveness from upstream to downstream.
With strong government support and continuous investment inflows, downstreaming is increasingly becoming the main engine towards an advanced and economically sovereign Indonesia that is resilient on the global stage.
