President and MPR lack vision
President and MPR lack vision
From Rakyat Merdeka
I agree with Mr. Moh. Otas IG's letter to the editor published
on June 17, 2001 titled It is true, there were two incompetent
presidents. Why? Because the last two presidents, namely Habibie
and Abdurrahman Wahid, as well as the Consultative People's
Assembly (MPR), did not have any vision as to where they would
take this nation.
How is it possible for the unitary republic of Indonesia
(NKRI), which consists of so many different tribes, to be united
if Pancasila, the state philosophy capable of uniting the entire
nation, is scrapped? That is why the entire nation must maintain
Pancasila.
Automatically then, the present democracy has turned out to be
anarchic. In other words it is meaningless democracy. Everything
is permitted, nothing is forbidden. This country's
multidimensional crisis will continue forever because religions
and the hinges of life have been damaged.
Pancasila is a "divine revelation" for this nation. Perhaps
certain groups disagree with Pancasila because they are afraid
Indonesia will become a monopolitical country. But that is an
undeniable fact. There are only two presidents who received
divine revelation, namely Sukarno and Soeharto, so that in their
hands this country did progress.
In my opinion, their being condemned at the end of their
leadership, and made to suffer a great deal, was also a divine
decree which should be accepted. A divine revelation can be
compared with the sun, which does not remain with one person but
moves on a continuous cycle. This is because the Almighty God
does not want any one person to remain eternally in power.
Apart from the political evaluation of their supporters, or
those opposing them, Bung Karno and Pak Harto were indeed
selected people who performed many services for their country.
