More than 200 students from Hope Intercultural School performed the musical production of Disney’s Finding Nemo Jr. at the Teater Kecil, Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM), Jakarta, on Saturday. This performance stands as one of the largest performing arts productions ever staged by the school, reflecting Hope Intercultural School’s commitment to providing holistic education through art, creativity, and character development.

As part of the Pelita Harapan Group, which possesses over 30 years of experience in the Indonesian education sector, Hope Intercultural School continues to develop global-standard learning experiences designed to prepare students academically, creatively, and characteristically. Through the production of Disney’s Finding Nemo Jr., students gained performing arts experience with professional, world-class production quality. The process, spanning acting, vocals, and dance, serves as practical learning to build confidence, communication, discipline, creativity, and leadership.

As an International Baccalaureate (IB) based school under the Pelita Harapan Group, Hope Intercultural School utilises performing arts as a core strength in its teaching process. The school maintains that performing arts are not merely a medium for expression, but an essential tool for shaping character, empathy, courage, and collaborative skills from an early age.

According to Recky Rendy, S.Pd., M.Sc. (Ed.), School System Coordinator at Hope Intercultural School, the primary value of this production lies in the character-building process occurring behind the scenes. “Disney’s Finding Nemo Jr. is not just about the performance on stage. Through the performing arts, we want students to learn to express themselves bravely, work together, take responsibility, and understand that every talent they possess can be used to bring a positive impact to others,” said Recky.

In addition to student development, the performance carries a social mission. All ticket sales proceeds have been donated to support the education of children in Papua through the Harapan Papua Education Foundation, specifically to help expand educational access for children in remote regions who still face limited facilities and learning opportunities. Through this initiative, Recky added that Hope Intercultural School hopes students will grow not only academically and creatively but also develop social awareness and a spirit of service to society.
