Presenting 2027 Work Plan to DPR, Home Affairs Minister Ensures Support for National Priority Agenda
Home Affairs Minister Muhammad Tito Karnavian has assured that the Ministry of Home Affairs will support the implementation of national priority agendas in 2027. The commitment was conveyed whilst presenting the ministry’s various strategic work programmes for the 2027 fiscal year during a Working Meeting and Hearing with Commission II of the DPR RI at the Parliamentary Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday, 11 June 2026. As part of its support for the national agenda, the Ministry of Home Affairs will play an active role in executing 23 National Priority Work Programmes spread across various development sectors. This support includes accelerating post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction in Sumatra, the construction and renovation of 3 million houses, the Merah Putih Village/Sub-district Cooperatives, accelerating the development of underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost regions, and strengthening health programmes such as tuberculosis eradication. In addition to supporting national priority programmes, the Ministry of Home Affairs will also carry out several mandatory programmes that cannot be postponed. These programmes include the selection of prospective students for the Institute of Home Affairs Governance, the selection of General Elections Commission and Bawaslu members, strengthening population administration, and developing digital identity to support digital-based governance transformation. He stated, “Then carrying out 147 national priority activities assigned to the Ministry of Home Affairs, including strengthening the governance of political parties, implementing Minimum Service Standards for local governments, supervising regional budgets and regionally-owned enterprises, and strengthening the capacity of domestic government apparatus.” Furthermore, he asserted that the Ministry of Home Affairs would continue to optimise its guidance and oversight function over local governments to ensure the effective implementation of development programmes. These efforts are carried out through the provision of government assistance funds for high-performing regions, guidance for regional heads, deputy regional heads, and DPRD. Additionally, these efforts also encompass strengthening the capacity of village government apparatus, resolving territorial and village boundaries, and enhancing the capacity of the Civil Service Police Unit and the Community Protection Unit. On another note, the Home Affairs Minister also stressed the importance of strengthening population administration services as the foundation for implementing national digital government. According to him, population data will become the main platform for integrating central and local government services. “The government will truly strengthen or implement government technology, e-government, for integrated public services,” he explained.
