Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FITK) at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta is strengthening academic foundations and research culture among graduate students. This initiative is implemented through an intensive agenda titled “Research Methodology Workshop for Master and PhD Students”, held from 7 to 26 May 2026.

Given the need for accessibility, the event was conducted hybridly, centred at the Graduate Research, Academic Writing, and Publication Service Room in FITK’s Sambilegi campus. Approximately 20 participants attended in person while over 60 joined online from various master and PhD programmes.

The workshop was structured to address modern academic challenges, divided into three clusters: bibliometric analysis, systematic literature review (SLR), and contemporary research methodologies. Opening the event, FITK Dean Prof Dr Sigit Purname emphasised that strengthening research methodology skills is no longer optional but an urgent necessity amid rising demands for high-quality international publications.

He stressed that graduate students must adapt quickly to evolving research technologies. “Graduate students must continuously learn new research trends and utilise various research applications. Research is advancing rapidly and requires stronger, more adaptable methodological capabilities,” he said.

aligning with the dean’s vision, FITK’s Graduate Research, Academic Writing, and Publication Service head Jamil Suprihatuningrum Ph.D stated the workshop reflects the faculty’s commitment to intensively guiding student research quality. He added that the support provided goes beyond theoretical knowledge to include technical skills, ensuring students’ research integrity.

“This workshop demonstrates the faculty’s commitment to instilling enthusiasm, knowledge, and skills in research methodology. The service office also commits to providing intensive support so students are not just knowledgeable but skilled and integrity-driven in their research,” he said.
