PT Indonesia Weda Bay Industrial Park (IWIP) has partnered with several state universities in Indonesia to prepare young talent for the industrial workforce. This initiative is being implemented through internship programmes at the Weda Bay Industrial Park in Central Halmahera, North Maluku, designed to equip students with relevant competencies and experience to enter the industrial sector.

The General Manager of Human Resources Development (HRD) at IWIP, Roslina Sangaji, stated that the company has signed Cooperation Agreements (PKS) regarding the implementation of student internship programmes with several national universities. These include Padjadjaran University (Unpad), Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Gadjah Mada University (UGM), and Jember State Polytechnic (Polije).

“IWIP is committed to strengthening synergy with state universities in Indonesia by supporting human resource development through internship opportunities within the IWIP Industrial Park,” Roslina said in a statement on Wednesday, 20 May 2026.

Previously, she noted that IWIP had already conducted internship programmes with various universities in North Maluku. “Through this programme, IWIP is not only providing access for students to experience practical work but also building a foundation for closer collaboration between the education sector and the industrial sector. This is a strategic step to ensure the availability of a competent, adaptive, and ready-to-contribute workforce,” she added.

She further noted that direct experience in an industrial environment provides added value for students in understanding work standards, safety culture, and industrial operations. “We hope that the participants of this internship programme will not only learn technical skills but also build a work character that is disciplined, collaborative, and solution-oriented,” said Roslina.

The industrial internship programme at IWIP will run for three months and will prioritise students from various disciplines, including Metallurgical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chinese Language and Culture, Information Technology, and Mechatronics. During the programme, interns will receive company support, including mentorship, transport facilities, accommodation, meals, personal protective equipment (PPE), insurance coverage, an allowance, and an internship certificate.
