Prepare for the PHK Task Force: The State Will Take Over Companies That "Surrender"

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - President Prabowo Subianto has just signed the establishment of the Task Force (Satgas) for Termination of Employment Relations (PHK) and the Labour Welfare Council. The formation of the PHK Task Force was announced during the celebration of International Labour Day, or May Day, observed every 1 May. “Brothers and sisters. I have issued Presidential Decree Number 10 of 2026 on the establishment of the Task Force for Mitigating Termination of Employment Relations and Labour Welfare,” said Prabowo in a speech at the commemoration of International Labour Day at Monas, Jakarta, on Friday (1/5/2026). “If there are entrepreneurs who surrender, don’t worry, our country is strong. Our country will take over. Our country will defend the Indonesian people. Don’t worry,” Prabowo stated. Prabowo emphasised that Indonesia is a strong nation. He also mentioned that the stock of fuel oil (BBM) is sufficient. In fact, in the coming years, Indonesia could achieve energy self-sufficiency. “We are self-sufficient in food. Our food is secure. Our BBM is still secure,” Prabowo said. “That’s also because there are representatives from all of you friends, so we can quickly get the information,” said Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad when receiving an audience with labour masses holding the May Day 2026 action in front of the DPR RI Building, on Friday (1/5/2026). Dasco emphasised that the presence of labour representatives in the Task Force aims to accelerate the handling of various labour issues, from wages, outsourcing systems, to the threat of PHK. He explained that the Task Force was formed by the government to break the chain of bureaucracy that has so far been considered lengthy in resolving labour problems.
