Prepare for Power Outages in Jakarta Tonight, Check the Schedule
The Jakarta Provincial Government has announced a plan for simultaneous power outages tonight, Saturday (19/09/2026), lasting for one hour or 60 minutes. This was reported via the official news channel of the Jakarta Provincial Government.
The simultaneous blackout will take place from 20:30 to 21:30 WIB as part of an effort to foster energy-saving habits.
The Head of the Jakarta Environmental Agency (DLH), Dudi Gardesi, stated that this action is intended to remind the public of environmental awareness, starting with simple habits such as using electricity wisely.
The initiative will occur at several locations and buildings across Jakarta as part of the commemoration of World Ozone Day, observed annually on 16 September.
It was noted that the power outage will affect several protocol and arterial roads, as well as various Jakarta icons. These include the National Monument (Monas), the Arjuna Wiwaha Statue, the Selamat Datang Statue at the Hotel Indonesia (HI) Roundabout, the Hero Statue, the General Sudirman Statue, and the Jakarta City Hall area.
“Through this one-hour action, we invite the community to bring the spirit of energy saving into their daily lives. Everyone can play a role, whether at home, in the workplace, or in business premises. Simple steps taken together and consistently will yield greater benefits,” said Dudi, as quoted from the official news channel of the Jakarta Provincial Government on Saturday (19/09/2026).
“The support of the public, building managers, and business actors is very significant for this movement. Let us make it a habit to turn off lights and electronic equipment when not in use. By using energy according to our needs, we can save costs while simultaneously helping to protect Jakarta’s environment,” he added.
Dudi also mentioned the achievements of a similar action held last Saturday (13/06). During that event, which commemorated Environment Day, there was an electricity saving of 75.18 MWh, resulting in a cost efficiency of Rp108,693,752 and an estimated reduction in emissions of 60.14 tonnes of CO2e.
He stated that this demonstrates how the involvement of the government, building managers, business actors, and the public can produce measurable energy savings.
“The Jakarta Provincial Government hopes that this spirit of togetherness will continue to grow and become part of the daily lives of our citizens,” he concluded.
