During the peak hajj period, pilgrims are being urged to maintain their health and comfort. Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak has asked hajj pilgrims to bring personal equipment and supplies.

The statement was made by Dahnil during a visit to Sector 6 in Makkah at Wehdah Alkhair Hotel on Friday evening, 22 May 2026. According to him, there are several important items that each pilgrim must bring.

“First, of course, essential medications. Pilgrims with personal medications must bring them,” he said after providing guidance to the pilgrims.

The pilgrims at the hotel were largely from North Sumatra. He also advised pilgrims to bring light snacks to prevent excessive hunger during the high-mobility phase of the peak hajj rituals.

However, he cautioned pilgrims to choose food that would not be burdensome to carry.

“If you have snacks to prevent hunger, you can bring them. But don’t bring things that are inconvenient because they will have high mobility,” he said.

Nevertheless, the Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah emphasised that the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah will endeavour to provide adequate food at important locations such as Arafah, Muzdalifah and Mina.

Addressing the hot weather conditions, he reminded pilgrims to bring personal protection equipment such as umbrellas, sunscreen and comfortable footwear.

“Use umbrellas and personal protective equipment. Don’t forget to bring an umbrella, then sunscreen. Then sandals that can allow you to walk comfortably,” he said.

Equally important, pilgrims can bring sunglasses, masks, hats, a spare ihram cloth, and spare clothing to change into after they are permitted to wear regular clothes again.
